Presentation of the book „Eternal fascism“ in Rijeka

Yesterday, in a crowded book shop Ex libris in Rijeka, on the occasion of the celebration of the day the city of Rijeka was liberated from the fascist rule, we presented Umberto Eco's book Eternal fascism.

The book was presented by the translator and the author of the afterword Damir Grubiša, and editor and publisher Hašim Bahtijari.

In this essay, Eco states that the Italian fascism was „fuzzy“ and not completely totalitarian and wonders where did that „fuzzy fascism“ illusion come from. Eco manages to summarize parts of every type of fascism in fourteen characteristics, stating that in the core of each fascsist movement (Italian fascism, German nacism, Spanish falange  or the American „alt-right“ movement ) is an archetype he calls „ur-fascism“.
