Are we about to enter a golden age of stupidity? And will artificial intelligence make us think less? None of us are immune to stupidity and idiocy, but help is available. Lars Fr. H. Svendsen is witty and lucid as he delves into the history of the philosophy of stupidity and idiocy. What characterizes someone who thinks stupidly? And what does it mean that someone acts like an idiot? The book is about self-reflection and one's own thinking habits and ways of looking at things. He makes the reader aware not only of other people's stupidity, but also of his own tendency to jump to conclusions, narrow-mindedness and stubbornness. And underneath that lies seriousness. Because what if we don't distinguish clear arguments from stupidity and idiocy? Then we lose our footing in reality. On Stupidity, Idiocy and Stupid Idiots will be Svendsen's twelfth book translated into Croatian.

A fool does not think, an idiot thinks wrongly, and a stupid idiot accepts his wrong thinking without thinking. What we colloquially call “emptiness” can have several dimensions, but I will stick to this simple division. The starting point is dominated by stupidity, which then turns into idiocy. Both categories are dynamic. One can leave and enter them. A fool does not doubt at all, but believes everything he hears. Only when doubt arises can a fool turn into an idiot. In a stupid idiot, doubt is replaced by one hundred percent conviction.

There is a stupid idiot lurking in each of us – not only because we all have our own fixations – but in some people this quality is so pronounced that it defines their entire personality. Some of them have so much power that others bow down to them, which gives such stupid idiots almost unlimited possibilities. Unfortunately, many political leaders are like that. Dictators are almost without exception stupid idiots. One look at the biographies of Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Pol Pot, and Mao Zedong is enough to substantiate this thesis.
