„Two Houses above the Sea“ presented in Split

On Thursday, June 5th at 6 pm, the Split Croatian National Theatre hosted the presentation of the book Two Houses Above the Sea. The Cultural Memory of Dalmatian Families. The book was discussed by historian prof. dr. sc. Aleksandar Jakir from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split, Dario Špelić, editor of the Croatian Radio Educational Program, the book editor Hašim Bahtijari, and the author, and the discussion was moderated by political scientist assoc. prof. dr. sc. Jadranka Polović from Libertas University. The hall was full, the Sinjska klapa enriched the program with four musical numbers, and Dario Špelić emphasized the following about the book: „History is not only what is written in books, but also what is transmitted by voice, feeling, and sometimes silence. He wrote down what would otherwise have disappeared, he created a world in which memory lives – and that is his greatest contribution.“

An article was published on the Dalmatian portal on the occasion of the presentation, which you can read here, and you can listen to an interview with the author here.
