The book „Both Freedom and Belonging“ presented
Yesterday, in the full Bogdan Ogrizović Library and Reading Room, we presented the book Both Freedom and Belonging. Essays on religion, nationalism and solidarity by Slavica Jakelić, a Croatian sociologist with an American address. Dijana Bahtijari gave an introductory speech about the book, emphasizing that this book comes at the right time, not only because of the political and social circumstances we find ourselves in, but also because of the need to rethink the fundamental ideas that bind us as a community and to ask ourselves: what connects us today, and how to build a community that does not deny differences, but respects them. Prof. Dr. Siniša Zrinščak spoke from the perspective of a sociologist of religion, and Father Tvrtko Barun reflected on the practical application of the messages from the book. The author, who emphasized that she proudly bears the title of idealist, at the very end reflected on the presentations of the other speakers, said a little more about what prompted her to write the book, and announced the possibility of future cooperation with TIM press.
