Shaun Walker in Večernji list
Shaun Walker, author of The Long Hangover and expert in Russian politics has, between two journalistic “expeditions” to Ukraine, given Branimir Pofuk an interview for Večernji list, concerning current events in the country. Speaking about the beginning of the invasion, Walker said:
“It was such an obviously mad plan that it naturally gave rise to skepticism as to whether or not it was even real. I was eventually expecting a military operation in the Donbas, and that’s why the manner of the beginning of the invasion with rockets falling across Ukraine and Russian troops quickly positioned fifty kilometers from Kiev surprised me so much. Who ever had recently resided in Kiev had to have known that such a plan would never have gone smoothly and it’s unbelievable to me that, in that sense, Putin was obviously being completely misinformed and misguided.”
