Rob Riemen at the Zagreb Book Festival

Rob Riemen, Dutch cultural philosopher and essayist whose work stands for the renewal of European spiritual values, was a guest at the Zagreb Book Festival (ZBF) on Tuesday and Wednesday (May 23rd/24th). Riemen, after a panel discussion with Richard Overy and Karl-Markus Gauss, also held an independent lecture on the "Destruction of the Reading Culture - Crime of the Century" at the Museum of Arts and Crafts. He discussed the death of the book culture and the reasons why we should try to keep it alive, saying that "the whole of the twentieth century is somehow a chronicle of death of books, literature and poetry."
