New title – „The end of illusions. Politics, economy and culture in late modernism“

The book The End of Illusions. Politics, economy and culture in the late modernism by the German sociologist and cultural theorist Andreas Reckwitz, translated by Nadežda Čačinovič has just come out of print.

Today in Germany, there is almost no political discussion in which Reckwitz's theses are not mentioned. In that country, his influence is equal to that of two prominent political scientists, Fukuyama with his End of History and Huntington with his Clash of Civilizations. In The End of Illusions, Reckwitz argumentatively presents the central structural features of modernity: the new class society, the features of the post-industrial economy, the conflict between culture and identity, the exhaustion arising from the imperative of self-realization and the crisis of liberalism, and points to the social subject of today's age, the urban and cosmopolitan new middle class that like citizenship in the 19th century, it determines the key values of contemporary Western societies.
