New title – „A Philosophy of Desire“

New title – „A Philosophy of Desire“

We just released the fourth title by Frédéric Lenoir, A Philosophy of Desire!

What would life be like without desires? The variety and intensity of our desires motivate us to act and give us the feeling of being fully alive. Wanting to live does not mean simply being alive, but allowing us to be carried by the vital impulse that forces us to create, love, surpass ourselves. It's about nurturing the eager power that drives our lives. However, every day we come across many limitations that hold us back.
We are often captured by the impulse of our primary brain, the striatum, and the consumerist propaganda that pushes us to acquire more and more. How to nurture the strength of desire without falling into the trap of permanent dissatisfaction or social mimicry? How to develop your own life force without self-censorship? How to learn to direct our desires towards things, activities or people that encourage us to grow and bring us joy?
From Plato to René Girard, through Buddha, Aristotle, Epicurus, Spinoza, Nietzsche, Jung and Bergson, Frédéric Lenoir returns to the great thinkers in the book A Philosophy of Desire and, based on their insights and his own reflections, brings us closer to the ability to desire, one of the inherently human abilities.
