A new season of great books and fun beats

This October and November, a new season of great books and fun rhythms awaits you at Botaničar!
With the Rhythm&Book program, our guests will present seven titles from the House of Good Books through three events, and the last date is reserved for the visit of a foreign author. As usual, everything will be moderated by HTV's editor and presenter Vlatka Kolarović, and Plazmatick, our permanent collaborator and a well-known face of the Croatian electronic scene, will make sure to provide a pleasant musical backround.
The first event, entitled „Success of Failure“, with the Croatian philosopher Hrvoje Jurić as a guest, will be held on October 4 at 6 PM. Professor Jurić will talk with Vlatka Kolarović about the pitfalls of failure and success, but also about loneliness as a global phenomenon. The books that will be discussed are Dying for Ideas, In Praise of Failure and The Philosophy of Loneliness.
„Two faces of the modern thought“ is the name of the second event where anthropologist Andrea Matošević will present two famous names of contemporary philosophy – Martin Heidegger and Giorgio Agamben. Find out what Heidegger's political ontology is, what the Black Notebooks are, and whether there is a connection between people and lemmings on October 25 at 6 PM, when we will present our books The Political Ontology of Martin Heidegger, the anthology A New Look on Heidegger and On People and Lemmings.
And a cherry on top, „Darkness is (not) bad“ with a Norwegian journalist and author of the book In Defense of Darkness. Stars, fear and five nights in the wild Sigri Sandberg, will be held on November 15, starting at 6 PM. On this occasion, the author will present her book to Croatian readers, and with moderator Vlatka Kolarović and Jutarnji list journalist Karmela Devčić, she will talk about life in the north of Norway, her travels, the good and bad sides of darkness, and the important topic of light pollution.
This program is held with the support of the Culture Office of the City of Zagreb, and Sigri Sandberg's visit to Zagreb is co-financed by NORLA and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in the Republic of Croatia.
