Pieter Steinz

Pieter Steinz (1963 - 2016) was a Dutch journalist, literary critic and publicist. He graduated history and English language and literature from the University of Amsterdam, and from 1986 to 1990 he taught history at the same University. Since 1989, he has worked as a reporter for NRC Handelsblad until February 2012, when he left journalism and became the head of the Dutch Foundation for Literature. Eighteen months later, he was diagnosed with progressive CNS disease, ALS, and had to give up most of his duties. Some of this most famous works are Lezen &cetera. Gids voor de wereldliteratuur (2003.), Lezen op locatie. Atlas van de wereldliteratuur (2004.), Klein cultureel woordenboek van de wereldliteratuur (2006.), Luisteren &cetera. Het web van de popmuziek in de jaren tachtig (with Bertram Mourits, 2014.).
