Jürgen Todenhöfer

Jürgen Todenhöfer is a German writer, journalist, politician, and executive producer, born on November 12, 1940 in Offenburg.

He studied law at universities in Munich, Paris, Bonn and Freiburg. He obtained his PhD in Legal Sciences in 1969, and since 1972 he was working as a judge. In 1970 he became a member of the Christian-Democratic Union, and was particularly engaged as a spokesperson for development policy and arms control. Until 2008 he was Vice President of the German Hubert Burda Media executive board.

He has traveled several times to the war zones in Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Libya and Afghanistan. He has described his numerous war experiences in several books, among them Wer weint schon um Abdul und Tanaya? (2003), Andy und Marwa. Zwei Kinder und der Krieg (2005), Warum tötest du, Zaid? (2008), Teile Dein Glück (2010). and Inside IS - 10 Tage im 'Islamischen Staat' (2015).
