Carl Öhman
Carl Öhman is an associate senior lecturer at the Department of Government at Uppsala University. He earned his doctorate in 2020 at the Oxford Internet Institute under the supervision of Luciano Floridi. His research covers areas such as the politics and ethics of artificial intelligence, digital afterlife, deepfakes, and the societal impacts of digital technologies. His work has been featured in media outlets including the New York Times, BBC, and TIME Magazine. In 2020, Scopus/Elsevier named him the top early-career researcher in the United Kingdom in the arts and humanities. As part of a project funded by WASP-HS, he leads research on artificial intelligence and political communication. His book The Afterlife of Data was listed among the top ten books of 2024 by Nature, The Economist, and The Guardian.
