New title: „A Philosophy of Hope“
The last title of 2023 is published!
In A Philosophy of Hope, the internationally recognized philosopher Lars Svendsen takes us on a journey through the history of philosophy in an insightful and humorous way and analyzes what the most prominent thinkers have written about hope. Recent events in Europe prompted the author to reflect on the philosophical aspects of hope as a phenomenon that carries different meanings and values for each individual. For some, it means passivity, giving up the belief that a person can change something and surrendering to the belief that external forces will make sure that he gets what he wants. For others, hope is active and connected to action to realize possibilities, because the future is not predetermined. Hope can be both. Svendsen considers hope inevitable in normal human life, but whether it is a blessing or a curse is not entirely clear.
