Philosophy of Politics
- Historical overview and fundamental concepts
- Robert Blažević
Study Philosophy of politics. The historical review and fundamental concepts thematizes certain aspects of philosophical thinking, especially political philosophy. Namely, these are the aspects that, according to the author, are crucial for introducing the reader to a serious and demanding study of philosophy. The book is divided into 10 chapters in which the author deals in detail with the most important philosophers, methods and schools of a particular period, from classical antiquity, through modern philosophy, classic German idealism up to the philosophy of the 20th century.
This study is intended for everyone who is interested in philosophical reflection, primarily high school students, students of philosophy, but also of other faculties of social sciences and humanities.

The topics dealt with in this book by the author Robert Blažević are extremely relevant because the history of political philosophy is interpreted from the entirety of history of philosophical thinking and important philosophical and political preoccupations are understood in the context of certain periods, philosophical trends and philosophers. Thus, the history of political philosophy is not understood in isolation or in fragments, but as a whole of the history of philosophical thinking.
The main scientific contribution of the work is the special approach applied in it, which respects the understanding of the history of philosophy as a continuous search for truth and combines it with a contextualist approach to the modern history of political ideas. Having understood philosophy as a holistic, universal way of knowing the truth, the author shows that this truth is connected to a certain historical context, and it is expressed precisely in the opinion of the great philosophers who discovered it, in the problems they posed and the way they considered them. The reconstruction of the history of philosophy and the philosophy of politics is therefore at the same time a series of small studies on great philosophers and a great journey of ideas and concepts.

The philosophy of politics provides an overview of the history of Western and especially European philosophy and additionally deals with the philosophical ideas about politics of a number of authors. In the first part of the book, the author deals with what can be called the canon of Western philosophy, i.e. presents the most important philosophers of ancient, medieval, Renaissance and Enlightenment philosophy and classical German idealism. In the second part of the book, dealing with the philosophy of the 19th and 20th centuries, the author offers a specific personal selection of philosophical ideas and philosophers that he considers important, without pretensions to a comprehensive presentation of all philosophical directions of modern Western philosophy.
Written in the form of a high school textbook, the book contributes to a high-quality chronological synthesis of selected philosophical ideas. Particularly important is the author's effort to include in the interpretation of philosophical matter a large number of works by Croatian authors, which he cites exhaustively, as well as a specific personal selection of philosophers, ideas and topics in modern philosophy of the 19th and 20th centuries, which he considers suitable for the introduction of new academic generations into study of the history of philosophy.
