The study Legitimacy, Authority and Ideology is the result of the author's years of dealing with these phenomena and consists two parts. The first part deals with key concepts – authority, power, ideology and the concept of legitimacy (and changing the basis of legitimacy throughout history). Weber's understanding of legitimacy is thematized, but also the understandings of a number of prominent theorists who, in a way, symbolize post-Weberian understandings of legitimacy. The second part of the study presents the problem of the legitimacy of empirical political orders: liberal-democratic, Nazi in Germany, Stalinist/socialist orders and, finally, post-socialist, as well as the way in which they received mass support from citizens. The study pays due attention to the legitimation problems of the political orders created by the disintegration of socialist Yugoslavia, primarily Croatia and Serbia.
The topics of this work are also relevant in the light of the liberal democracy crisis and populism that it is forced to face, so it will, given the relevance of the topics it deals with, interest not only experts but also the general public.

„The book Legitimacy, Authority and Ideology in an innovative way connects the theoretical reconstruction of the sociological theory of legitimacy with the analysis of contemporary problems of legitimacy of different types of order. That is why the first part of the book deals with concepts such as power, authority and ideology that are key to the analysis of legitimacy, as well as the very concept of legitimacy and changing the basis of legitimacy throughout history. Based on such a reconstruction, the second part of the book presents the problem of the legitimacy of empirical political orders: liberal-democratic, Nazi order in Germany, Stalinist, socialist and post-socialist, focusing especially on the political order in Croatia and Serbia.“

„Robert Blažević has repeatedly dealt with the phenomenon of the legitimacy of political institutions and orders in his scientific research, and especially the phenomenon of the charismatic form of legitimacy. There is a lack of systematic discussions on the problems of legitimacy, power and ideology in the Croatian legal and political science literature, so this book by Blažević is a valuable contribution. The themes of the work are particularly relevant given the current phenomena of the crisis of liberal representative democracy and the populist challenges it faces. The book will be interesting to the general public, to all who are interested in understanding current political phenomena.“
